Necron Campaign

Dawn of War 4's Necron campaign follows the Chronomancer Thothmek, whose forces wake and answer a mysterious signal from Kronus. It was not in the Oct 2026 preview build, so only its set-up is known, ahead of the Dec 3, 2026 launch.

Dawn of War 4's Necron campaign follows the Chronomancer Thothmek, whose forces wake from a 60-million-year sleep after a mysterious signal from Kronus. That is nearly all that has been published: KING Art's Oct 2026 preview build held only the Ork and Adeptus Mechanicus campaigns in full, and Press Start confirms it did not play this one. This page will grow after the Dec 3, 2026 launch. The clip is the Jul 2026 Necron CGI Trailer.

The set-up

KING Art calls Kronus a dormant tomb world that the Necrons had long assumed held nothing more of interest to them, until the signal. Thothmek wants the power in its hidden tombs for his dynasty's wider war effort. The Adeptus Mechanicus, meanwhile, have broken into a Necron complex that turned out to be a prison, and the Necrons begin to awaken to the intrusion. The trailer's larger goal for them is reclaiming their galactic empire. Who sent the signal is not stated, and KING Art says it is holding back so as not to spoil the campaign. The clip is the Jul 2026 Necron Faction Trailer.

Theysen told IGN the Necrons were picked partly because they had been teased for Dawn of War 3 and never came. The setting also ties back to Dark Crusade, where excavation on Kronus woke them. See Story and Setting.

What the Commanders suggest

KING Art says every faction offers a choice of two Commanders, and for the Necrons these are Thothmek, who manipulates time, and the melee-minded Ahmnok. KING Art has not said whether this campaign splits around them, as the Ork Campaign and Adeptus Mechanicus Campaign split around theirs, so do not assume it does. How the faction plays, from the Tomb Citadel to the Power Matrix, is on Necrons, but none of that comes from this campaign.

What is not known

As of Oct 31, 2026, no named missions, mission count, length, branching or ending have been published, and no preview describes this campaign from play. ComicBook says it played all four campaigns, which reads wider than KING Art's list of the build, and gives no Necron campaign detail beyond the faction's play.
